Intro

About / Scenario

A global cloud console UX team was building across two languages simultaneously. Product designers, PMs, and engineers in Toronto and China needed to work from the same visual foundation, communicate the same motion principles, and present their work convincingly to senior stakeholders in both markets.

Visual consistency wasn't the goal. It was the prerequisite.

Problem

A bilingual team without a shared visual language doesn't slow down gradually. It fragments. Components get rebuilt in isolation. Motion gets interpreted differently per team. Stakeholder presentations land differently depending on which language they're in. Research visualizations that took weeks to produce don't communicate clearly in the room where decisions get made.

The UX team needed someone who could bridge the craft and the communication gap at the same time.

What I DID

I embedded with the cloud console UX team as Visual Designer and Motion Graphics Lead. My scope covered four interconnected areas: the design system, the motion language, the AI interaction guidelines, and the stakeholder communication layer.

This entire project is under a NDA and could not be shared entirely. Elements showcased were recreated from sketch and does not represent any brand or related project.

structure

The foundation was a 200+ component design system covering the full cloud console UX surface, including illustration assets and interactive prototypes. Components were built to flex across both language contexts without requiring parallel maintenance. The system gave both teams a single source of truth they could actually use without a translator in the room.

Illustration

For the AI assistant features, I designed 10+ microanimation patterns and motion guidelines covering timing, easing, and interaction states. Each pattern shipped with video documentation and developer-ready timing specs so the engineering team could implement without interpretation gaps. This was the handoff layer that made the motion system real rather than aspirational.

It gave the product a consistent vocabulary for how AI moments should look, feel, and communicate, regardless of which team was building them

HAI
GUIDELINES

Alongside the motion work, I created the HAI (Human-AI Interaction) guidelines and visual toolkit, a framework adopted by PMs, designers, and developers across both language teams to match
user problems with AI solutions.

VISIBILITY

The research and vision work is where the bilingual gap was sharpest. I produced the stakeholder vision video, research visualizations, and presentation assets for the cloud console redesign, AI integration rollout, and HAI guideline initiatives. These weren't support materials. They were the artifacts that moved decisions forward in rooms where the design team didn't always have a voice.

results

A 200+ component bilingual design system. 10+ microanimation patterns with full developer documentation. HAI guidelines adopted across both language teams. Stakeholder presentations that communicated the UX team's work at the level leadership could act on.

The team could build, ship, and present without the visual language becoming a bottleneck.
